emulate, the wisdom and perseverance of my mother, Lydia, was a continuous
source of inspiration that softened the sharp edges during trying times. The
presence in my life of Janan, my daughter, is a source of joy and provided the
energy to continue. Her love and understanding are greatly appreciated. Her sharp
intellect and sense of justice are highly admired. I am privileged to have her in my
life. My greatest debt is to my companion and closest friend, Randa, whose
encouragement and support in so many different ways were indispensable. She
provided lots of love and patience. For everything, but above all for her humanity,
