A more explicitly religio-nationalistic definition of
this purpose is enunciated by the Ministry of Education
and Culture in its contribution to the Israel Government
Year Book, 5725 (1964/65). The Ministry proclaims :
“It is a particular concern of the Ministry, every-
where in the educational system, to impart a broader
knowledge of Jewish cultural heritages, customs
and traditions and a deeper interest in the Dias-
pora. This is to be clearly reflected in school syllabuses and
teacher-training curricula, and in handbooks for
teachers.” “)
The bearing of such a Jewish-centered concept of
State education upon the national and cultural rights of
the rab student requires no elaboration.
